I have two HP 8100 Elite SFFs that are giving me 6 error beeps (video card issue) when the card is not present but works just fine with it in. My question is, is there anyway to re-enable the onboard video on these units? I have also bought two replacement motherboards and am still receiving the same error. Any help please? HP 8100 Elite SFF - i5 core running Windows 7/32bit.

Hi:
If you look at the quickspecs below, page 7, some i5 processors require a discrete graphic solution (i5-750 and i5-760 as well as the i7's).

That is because those processors do not have the support to run the integrated graphics.
So, if your PC's have the i5-750 or i5-760, you must have a graphics card installed in order for the video to work.

It appears as so the two that aren't showing video without the card are definitely 750/760. I do have one that is a 650 and that fits into the category of having intergrated video. I am still confused as to why this is like it is but it's whatever. As long as I know they don't have intergrated video then :c

Yes, the processor model determines if the PC can use the onboard video.
All of the Intel 2nd generation core processors can use either the onboard or add on graphics.
Here are the specs from Intel on the i5-650 and i5-750/760 processors, and as you can see they do not support integrated graphics.

Notice how the 750/760 have no graphics specs.
