HP DeskJet 2710e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Does HP read these because their help is TOTALLY useless. Typical US ignorance. All the lights on my printer flash and printing stops half way thru. All you get is that nonsense about removing the power cable and holding the start button down.

'It's because your'e printing on the wrong size paper...(not true). It's because there is a paper jam ...(not true). If I don't get a fix from this submission it's going out of the window and I'll never buy HP again.  HELP please.

@Mrangry43, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
When all lights on your HP DeskJet 2710e All-in-One Printer are blinking and printing stops midway, it typically indicates a critical error state. Let’s walk through the steps to diagnose and resolve this issue.

Perform a Power Reset

This clears most temporary errors:

  1. Turn the printer on, if it’s not already.
  2. With the printer on, unplug the power cord from the back.
  3. Wait 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord back in and turn the printer on.

Check for Specific Error Indicators

Visit this HP support page to identify the blinking pattern and what it means: HP DeskJet 2700, 4100, 4800 printers - Blinking lights and error codes

Look for:

  • Ink Level lights blinking: May indicate a cartridge issue.
  • Paper Error icon: Could be a false jam or misfeed.
  • Resume light: Often means user action is needed (e.g., reloading paper).

Check Ink Cartridges

  1. Open the cartridge access door.
  2. Remove and reinsert both cartridges.
  3. Check for any protective tape still on the cartridges.
  4. Clean the electrical contacts with a lint-free cloth and distilled water.

Check for Paper Issues

Even if there’s no visible jam:

  • Remove all paper.
  • Fan the stack and reload it properly.
  • Make sure the paper size matches the print job settings.

Update Firmware

Outdated firmware can cause erratic behavior:

  • Open the HP Smart app or go to HP Software & Drivers.
  • Download and install the latest firmware for your printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
