I have recently replaced my monitor with a new HP 27q 27" monitor.
When connecting this to my computer, it will display in a maximum of 1280 x 800 resolution, where this should be capable of displaying 2560 x 1440.
I have a second monitor that is identical and displays at the correct resolution.
This is connected to my Dell Laptop, via a docking station. The Docking station has a mini HDMI connector to a Displayport connector on the monitor.
When connecting, Windows flags an alert that the optimum resolution to display is 2560 x 1440, however the only options available for selection are:
800 x 600
1024 x 768
1280 x 720
1280 x 800
Any advice would be welcomed!

well all PCs made for decades (4 ) the PC and the monitor both must support you wanted resolution.
no PC told at all
no PC GPU card told if fitted,
or that laptop unstated nor its docking station model..
did you mean adapter
mini HDMI connector to a Displayport connector on the monitor.
if yes it too must be VESA compliant to edid spec, of the 2 things can not talk to each other (PC to MON)
we can not guess what is on the table there at all, no human can, (hint vast things possible)
the monitor is 2560 x 1440 @ 60 Hz (FHD) and is full VESA compliant.
so that leaves what.?
- PC is not,
- GPU not (really is same as above on laptops)
- dock not.
- or adapter not.
NO PC told at all, not even a tiny hint, sigh.
