Pavilion 22fi
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Good day everyone!

I got my 22fi like three years ago. On its first and a half year, the mid bottom side got darker like it got a circular spot. I let it rest for few weeks but it still got the problem so I disregarded it since I badly needed the monitor (and it's just a spot anyway). After a month, the left half side got dark too and now it's hurting my eyes looking at an imbalanced lit monitor.

I am suspecting a backlight problem. But it's weird because upon turning the monitor on, it is perfectly fine on the first microsecond of operation then turns dark immediately. I tried changing cables and monitors, the problem really is my 22fi.

Thank you so much!

Hi there @FranzKiernan,

May the Forums be with you!  I understand that your display has several dark zones.  I am happy to give you a hand with this.

About the only thing I can suggest is to try a factory reset of the display and see if there is any change.

Press the Auto or Autoselect button on the monitor.
Press Menu, and select Factory Reset

If that does not make a difference then it is likely that one or more of the backlight lamps would need to be replaced. If it comes to that your choice will depend on your warranty status.  I do not believe HP repairs displays, but if it is in warranty it is worth calling in as it would likely be replaced.

Please let me know whether that works for you, and if it does resolve your issue, please mark this post as a solution. Kudos would also be appreciated.

Good day, @Malygris1

Thanks for the welcome. 🙂

I tried factory reset, but it remained the same. Good thing you reminded me of this one. Now I am pretty sure that this is really a backlight issue.

I bought this from this store (not hp) and they only gave me one year warranty (already expired). I think I'm gonna try look for a certified service center.

Again, thanks a lot Malygris1! I appreciate your response! Have a nice day ahead 🙂

Me too!

When the monitor is turned on, the lower left corner is black. Sometimes after being on for a few minutes, if I turn it off and then back on again quickly, that lower left corner will light up and the monitor works fine for a few minutes, but then after a while the lower left corner goes back to black.

Did you get yours fixed? Did you take it to a repaid shop? What did they do?
