HP w2207h
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I upgraded to Windows 10 today and this monitor can't be detected when trying to add an external monitor vis settings..   It's connected, via VGAcable, to a Samsung laptop that is less than 2 years old and the monitor worked fine with Windows 8.1.

Hardware detection on HP support page does nto detect the monitor either.  Manual entry of w2207h finds the monitor but there is no Windows 10 option for the driver update.

Anyone else have this issue and found  a way around it?

Thanks

Chuck

Hi,

The issue is probably not the monitor but rather the Samsung laptop.  Try reinstalling the graphics driver that is posted on the Samsung site for your laptop.

My HP printer didn't work and updating the driver from the HP site worked. However the HP site offers drivers for this monitor from XP to Win 8 but not 10. It's 6 years old so they may not be updating the driver. It's a shame to throw a perfectly good monitor away. I'll try a graphics driver update though.

Hi Chuck,

I had to reinstall my HP printer software when I did an in place upgrade to Windows 10. If you look in Device Manager you might see an "unknown" device listed under Printers.  I deleted that printer then reinstalled the HP printer software.

It's not the graphics driver.  Since the monitor is 7 years old, I guess it will not be supported.

Thanks

Thanks Dave.  This does show the monitor as compatible, with a free download required.  However the HP download page does not show a driver for Windows 10.   I've gone back to 8.1 for now and have a new laptop on order so it may not matter.  Thanks for your help.

I have the same issue except my laptop is an HP laptop.  Windows 10 does not detect the monitor and HP does not have Windows 10 driver for their 2207 monitor.

@RonAd

Look in Device Manager for anomalies and additionally look to see if the monitor is detected.

Your laptop as a function key to change the monitor viewing'; LCD, external only or both

I am using a HP 2210m which is about the same vintage as your HP 2207 and the "inf" file is dated 2009 from HP (supplied by W10).

Didn't work for HDMI, monitor will work with the VGA analog.  You would think that HP would have posted a Windows 10 driver by now for the w2207h monitor.
