A month ago I bought an HP 320 FHD webcam. I needed a webcam for online lessons. Right after I bought it, I wanted to test it. I didn't have a new computer back then, but I did have an old laptop. I tested the webcam on my over five-year-old LENOVO ideapad 320 with Windows 11. The laptop did not detect the camera at all, and the light on it did not light up at all. The camera just didn't work. I thought it was my old laptop's fault. About two weeks ago I bought a new PC - Lenovo Legion T5-26IOB6 with Windows 11. I tried to check if the webcam works on the new PC. The same thing happened again. The camera didn't work. I also thought it might be due to missing drivers, but this webcam doesn't need any drivers. I do not know what to do now. The school year starts in a few days and I need a webcam ASAP
PS: I couldn't even link my webcam to this message because I received a message that the serial number is invalid.

Hi @n3ko_p4wz,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP 320 FHD webcam is not working, you can try the following troubleshooting steps to diagnose and potentially resolve the issue.
Check Physical Connections:
- Ensure that the webcam is securely connected to your computer's USB port. Try using a different USB port to rule out a port issue.
Restart Your Computer:
- Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve hardware and software conflicts. Restart your computer and check if the webcam works afterward.
Check Webcam Privacy Settings:
- In Windows, go to "Settings" > "Privacy" > "Camera" and make sure that camera access is allowed for the applications you're trying to use with the webcam.
Update Webcam Drivers:
- Outdated or incompatible drivers can cause webcam issues. Visit the HP website or use the Windows Update tool to check for and install the latest drivers for your webcam.
Check for Software Conflicts:
- Sometimes, other applications or software can interfere with the webcam. Ensure that no other software is using the webcam at the same time. Close unnecessary background applications.
Run Windows Troubleshooter:
- In Windows, you can use the built-in troubleshooter to identify and fix hardware and software issues. Search for "Troubleshoot" in the Start menu, then select "Troubleshoot" and follow the prompts for the webcam.
Check Webcam in Another Application:
- Test the webcam in another application like Zoom, Skype, or a video recording app to see if the issue is specific to one program or if it's a broader problem.
Check for Physical Damage:
- Inspect the webcam for any physical damage or loose connections. If there is visible damage, you may need to replace the webcam.
Check Webcam Settings:
- In the application you're trying to use the webcam with, check the settings to ensure the correct webcam is selected and the camera is not disabled.
Reinstall Webcam Software:
- If you suspect that the webcam software is causing issues, uninstall it and then reinstall it from the manufacturer's website.
System Restore:
- As a last resort, you can perform a system restore to a point in time when the webcam was working correctly. This will revert your system settings to a previous state.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
