Hi,

You shouldn't need to download anything as the driver for the optical drive is supplied by Windows OS.

Can you post back with the following.

1.  The full Model No. and Product No. of the notebook - see Here for a guide on locating this information.

2.  The full version of the operating system you are using ( ie Windows 7 64bit ).

3.  Open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and expand DVD/CD-ROM Drives.  If the drive is listed here, right click it and select Properties - on the General tab, is there an error showing in the 'Device status' box and if so, what is it?

Regards,

Had same problem...(code 19) in Device Manager...and used this fix to solve it...worked for me when all else failed...ie uninstall... re-install...by deleting the lower filter in the registry. http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/ht/upperfilters-lowerfilters.htmHope this helps...

What is the current operating system on your computer?

I am getting a Code (19) registry error for my CDDVDW TS-L633R.  How can update the registry?  I have tried to update the driver, but it says the driver is up to date, but that I have a registry error.  Let me know how I can correct this issue.

Thanks,

Hello soupmannnn,

I see that you are having problems with the DVD drive on your HP computer. I have some suggestions that may help with this issue.

Here is a link to a Microsoft fix it tool that may correct the registry error. Run the fix it and let me know what helps.

If you are still having problems let me know what operating system you are using.

Acea, it worked, perfectly. Definitely worth investing 10 minutes for removing these bugging upperfilters.

My case was Error Code 19 and I did not have any lowerfilters to remove. This article above indeed solved the problem, so I am headed to watch some movies now. Happiness has come back. Kudos

P.S. According to the article, it may also solve Errors Code 19Code 31,Code 32Code 37Code 39, and Code 41. Those may be also caused by any mess-up in registry.
