progress of a sort... I've run the latest Chipset update from the HP site, which was encouraging, as the Bluetooth icon flashed up briefly in the taskbar. Once it had run to completion and rebooted the Bluetooth was present in Device Manager only when I did "Show hidden devices", so it's not in a working state despite the positive signs.

I've also tried the uninstallation of the USB Root Hub (USB 3.0) from Device Manager as you suggested - it reinstalled everything ok on reboot, but it hasn't brought Bluetooth back to life.

It feels like we've got over the big hurdle by updating the Chipset drivers, but maybe there's now some Windows issue preventing Bluetooth working properly? (I also updated drivers for all Bluetooth devices)

Here's my latest Device Manager screenshot...

DevManager3.PNG

I ran up USB Device Tree Viewer, no Bluetooth devices apparent there, which is consistent with Device Manager as it doesn't think the Bluetooth device is connected. At least it looks like the hardware's ok.

Any more ideas you think worth a shot?

Thanks,

Mark

OK, so that's encouraging and seems tallying with my thesis about some sort of misconfiguration.

So USB device Intel Wireless Bluetooth is visible only in Show Hidden Devices state? What happens when you right-click and check its properties, i.e. what is the driver being used, and its supplier, and its version? Also, what's the state of the device as reported by Windows? As well as: what does Events tab shows - there should be a history of drivers / installs there of some sort. And: anything else interesting or out of ordinary there?

Also, what is the version of chipset drivers you installed / direct link to HP website?

The latest driver @Intel is here: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/28182/Chipset-INF-Utility?product=1145

And you may need to use -overall option to get it forcibly deployed:

Subsequently, I just found this thread:

https://forums.intel.com/s/question/0D50P0000490K6gSAE/intel-wireless-bluetooth-for-windows-10-20300...

Which is quite telling.

This thread seems confirming it. In other words: duff drivers possibly.

https://superuser.com/questions/1278657/windows-10-bluetooth-turned-off-and-now-cant-be-turned-back-...

Worth trying what suggested there either way, I think.

So:

1. Get all this removed and restart as per the procedures described in both threads

2. Get the latest Wireless Proset AND Bluetooth drivers for AC-3168, preferably off Intel directly:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/29004/Intel-Wireless-Bluetooth-for-Windows-10?product=9485...

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/29003/Windows-10-Wi-Fi-Drivers-for-Intel-Wireless-Adapters...

And report back

so I've uninstalled all Intel Bluetooth & Wireless ProSet software, rebooted, and installed the following most up-to-date files downloaded from Intel website -

IntelDownloads.PNG

I've updated my Bluetooth device driver as shown here -

DevManager4.PNG

So to summarise where I'm at -

1) I believe the Bluetooth hardware to be good,

2) I believe the Chipset drivers to be good, from here

https://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-pavilion-24-b200-all-in-one-desktop-pc...

3) I believe the latest Bluetooth drivers to be good,

4) I think I've now run up against a Windows problem, as described here...

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-other_settings/bluetooth-disappeared-wi...

So I think it's a waiting game for Microsoft to address the underlying os issue now.

Any other ideas or corrections to my thinking welcome!

Thanks,

Mark

Thanks for an update.

So I get this right: you actually did not remove (delete) hidden Bluetooth devices from Device Manager - as per the information in the links provided - but merely uninstalled and reinstalled drivers' software?

OMGosh!  Just discovered I have the same issue but on my Pavilion All-In-One 27-a010....  No bluetooth showing up, at all.  Tried downloading the Intel Bluetooth.  It installed, apparently, okay, but still don't get a Bluetooth showing in my Directory, or anywhere.  Just show it in my Downloaded files....  Open to suggestions - miss using my ear buds for when I take courses and everyone else doesn't want, or need, to listen.  Hoping to figure this out.

Would taking out the Root Hub disturb anything else I may be needing it for?  I am in the same boat as the other person you have been conversing with.  All the same situation on my 27-a010 Pavillion....

Read the thread, with specific attention to the last page, and try suggested solution in links provided.

And report back, obviously.
