Hi @Linda1005
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Here’s a breakdown of how to remove a printer across Windows, macOS, and mobile devices. You’ll be done in under a minute on most systems.
On Windows 10 / Windows 11
- Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners
- Locate the printer you want to remove
- Click on it, then choose Remove device
- Confirm by clicking Yes
If it doesn’t disappear, try restarting your computer.
On macOS (Ventura, Sonoma, or newer)
- Open System Settings
- Go to Printers & Scanners
- Select the printer you want to remove
- Click Remove Printer or the “–” button
- Confirm removal if prompted
Older macOS versions use System Preferences instead of System Settings, but steps are similar.
On iPhone/iPad (AirPrint-enabled printer)
Apple doesn’t store printers like a computer does—AirPrint detects them automatically when on the same Wi-Fi network. To "remove" a printer:
- Go to Settings > Wi-Fi
- Disconnect from the network your printer uses if you don’t want to see it
- Alternatively, delete any saved printing shortcut from apps like HP Smart or Canon Print
On Android
- Go to Settings > Connected devices > Connection preferences > Printing
- Tap Default Print Service or your printer brand (e.g., HP Print Service Plugin)
- Turn off the service, or go into the app and remove the printer listing
Let me know if you're trying to clear out a stuck printer driver, disconnect it from your network entirely, or troubleshoot a re-add. I’ll tailor the next steps for that.
