I have to connect to printer's wifi when I print

I have been connected to my printer for awhile now. I have a macbook pro running Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan and the HP Deskjet All-in-One. When I want to print something, I have to disconnect from my wifi that enables me to use the internet and use the wifi that my printer emits. Is there a way to change this so I can print and still use my internet?

I understand that you are unable to connect to the internet and use the printer simultaneously.

Don't worry as I have a few steps that should help fix this issue.

This issue could occur if the printer is not setup properly on the network.

Thank you. I have been researching and since I use my school's wifi, I cannot go through my printer through the school's wifi. I have to connect to the printer's 'wifi'.

Thank you for your reply, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that you cannot use your printer trough the school's wifi.

Then you need to use wi-fi direct for printing and for connecting to the internet you can use your phone as the hotspot.
