HP Envy 795-0010
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My new PC randomly disconnects WiFi, often runs OK for several hours then repeated disconnects. Other PCs on the same router do not have this problem. So far I have.......

Run HP Diagnostics - each time it 'Re-sets the Realtek RTL8822BE PCIe adapter,

Updated the Realtek drivers from the HP website,

Fully restored the Windows 10 software,

Checked the signal strength (-45dB).

Since the problem is intermittent I am concerned that if I return the PC, HP will test it for a short time and find no problem.

Any advice welcome.

Hi:

There have been some driver updates released that are newer than the one on your PC's support page.

Maybe you would want to try the latest version I can find...

Thank you for this. I'll give that a try and let you know if I can get through a day without any disconnects!

You're very welcome.

If that doesn't work, you may want to consider replacing/upgrading the wifi card with something better rather than sending in your PC.

It wouldn't be that expensive.

Over the past 2 days I've had 2 disconnects which is a significant improvement since installing the driver you recommended.  I'll keep keep monitoring and perhaps consider changing the WiFi card.

Thanks again for your help.

Finally - and to clarify,  although I experinced fewer WiFi disconnects with the driver you suggested, the problem didn't disappear completely so I installed a Qualcomm WiFi card (and of course disabled the Realtek).   Since then there have been no disconnects at all.

Once again, thanks for your past help.

Anytime.

Glad to have been of assistance.

BTW...there is an even newer wifi driver out for the RTL8822 card and I have zipped it up and attached it below if you ever want to experiment with it.

Version:  2024.0.8.105,   04/12/2019

You have to manually update the driver as follows...

Go to the device manager.

Click to expand the Network Adapters device manager category.

Click on the Realtek 8822 wifi adapter listed there.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder you unzipped.

Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and the driver should install.

Then restart the PC.
