Hp.....
Microsoft Windows 8 (32-bit)
Computer keeps upgrading every time I shut it off it starts up and then tries to upgrade, but never proceeds past 0%. I've asked this question before and someone responded and asked for the product number and operating system which I gave, but haven't received a response...... Can anyone point me in some kind of direction?

Greetings @Yahudah

Thanks for the post.

I understand that you unable to boot the computer to the desktop as the computer is stuck in the process of upgrading, is that right?

Not to worry, I will be glad to help.

May I know the exact product number of your computer? Click here for assistance. Please do not share the serial number of your computer.

Have you tried any troubleshooting steps on your own?

Recommend you do a hard reset.

Turn the computer On and keep tapping F2 repeatedly on startup and run an extensive test on your computer. Refer to this HP Article for assistance.

If all the tests pass, restart your computer and keep tapping F11 repeatedly on startup to enter recovery manager and perform a System Restore. Click here for assistance.

Make sure not have any external devices apart from the power adapter during startup or system restore.

If any of the tests fail, please replace the failed component or contact our phone support for the service options available.

Keep me posted.

Yeah thx, my wife reset the computer yesterday. But my question is why does this keep happening? This is the second time in the last 2 weeks. First time it almost finished updating then it shot back an error code. This time it wouldn't even start. I can't ignore the update or refuse it because it automatically does it by itself. Going to buy an external hard drive so she doesn't keep losing files. Could it be a memory issue? The computer only had 1 RAM stick in it and only had 2 slots.
