I just received the HP ZR30w monitor but I cannot manage to achieve the maximum resolution.

I am using a Computer Sony Vaio VGN-Z51XG/B, with an  NVIDIA geforce 9300M GS graphic card, and  Windows 7 64 bit.

I am using a docking station which has a DVI-D output.

I installed the monitor driver but I am still getting the standard screen resolution of 1280x800.

Does anybody know how can I increase the resolution to 2560x1600?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Hi,

From the Start Menu, open the Control Panel and then open the NVIDIA Control Panel.  Click Display in the left column to open up the options ( it may already be open ) and then click on Resolution.  Choose 2560 x 1600 and then click the Apply button which will appear at the bottom of the window.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes,

Hi,

I already tried this, but the max resolution available is 1280x800.

I also downloaded the driver from the HP site and reinstalled them, but nothing changes.

Thanks,

Pasquale

Hi,

With the external monitor connected, open the Control Panel and then open Display.  Click on 'Change Display Settings' in the left hand column and then see if you can alter the resolution of the second display here.

Best wishes,

I have the same problem and none of the suggestions work. I am driving the zr30w with an nvidia fx 4500. The max resolution the monitor will display is 1280 x 800.

Be sure that you have the latest ZR30w monitor driver installed.

Look in Device Manager under Monitors.  What monitor type is indicated?

All drivers installed, updated. Tried it on two cards, fx 3500 and fx 4500. No resolution higher than 1280 x 800. Device Manager shows HP ZR30w Wide LCD Monitor.

Try cabling directly to the monitor and don't use any adapters.

There are no adapters between the monitor and video card, just the DVI cable from HP.

Your first post indicates a docking station.  Is the docking station connected to the monitor or am I misreading this information?

Try a monitor reset. Unplug the monitor and hold down the monitor's power button for 30-60 seconds. Plug the monitor back in a power it up. How does it look? I the same issue, then go into the monitor's menu and do a factory reset and then check the input source for DVI.
