I have been using Windows 8.1 preview and my sound is not working. I have tried to install windows 8 drivers running with compatibility mode with no success. Since windows 8.1 will be released this coming week, I was wondering if HP already had the drivers somewhere I can download.
I have the HP Touchsmart 610 1050y

This driver would not install on my TouchSmart Envy 23-d160qd. After failing and rebooting, I now have NO audio avialable. HELP?
Okay, I was able to install the original Windows 8 drivers and have sound and beat audio app shows up; however, changing the settings seems to have no (or very little) affect.
Is there a known good IDT driver for this computer and Windows 8.1? Thanks!

Hi dhanning,
I saw your post looking for updated Windows 8.1 drivers and I will be happy to help. With Windows 8.1 still being so new it make take some time for all the drivers to be released. I have a couple of links for you. The first link is to the Drivers page for your computer for Windows 8.1 but right now the only downloads are for chipset, graphics and network. The second link is to another thread on the HP Forums where someone was having some sound issues this may help you adjusting the sound levels.

Hi thanks for your reply.
I was able to get decent sound following these steps provided by HP support via email:
1. Uninstall and reinstall the sound driver.
2. Update the sound driver.
Steps are listed in details below: -
1. Uninstall and reinstall the sound driver.
Steps to uninstall and reinstall the sound driver.
- Press the windows key + X keys and the from the popup menu click on Device Manager.
- In Device Manager, expand audio input and output right-click the sound driver and then click Uninstall.
- When you are prompted to confirm that you want to remove the device, click OK.
- Restart the computer.
After the computer restarts, the drivers will be automatically installed.
After restarting the PC install the driver update.
2. Update the sound driver:
Please visit the website link provided below and install the sound driver update.
after performing the steps provided above if the issue persist then please install the HP Software Framework from the link provided below.

Sound is working (and is acceptable) and I can now move the sliders (not possible previously) for the equalier. However, moving the sliders for the graphic equalizer has NO effect on the sound output. I will say that the setting on the left do have an effect but they are fairly limited.
So this sounds NO different than the default (flat settings):
I did check the drivers page for my HP model and Windows 8.1 and discovered as you did that there isn't an update for the Audio CODEC / BeatsAudio. HP has had MONTHS to make this available for those of us who have spent $1200 on their TouchSmart computers. BeatsAudio is supposed to be a big sellling point on these models so you'd think this would be available already.
Last but not least, thanks for the pointer to the other thread but what exactly is it you'd like me to DO? That thread is nine pages long, is about notebooks and audio fluctuations -- none of those things are in common with my problem?

Hey guys this works for my ENVY 23 d060 TouchSmart for Beats with functioning EQ
download this driver
I had to extract it with winrar and run the driver from within the folder named src it will not run natively from the zipped file.
Enjoy 🙂 Scooter !

Yes, that's what I have installed now. It's the original driver.
And while I can change the EQ values, the changes have no effect on the actual sound output. That's the issue that I currently have and this driver doesn't address that.
