I would suppost that 32 bit vx. 64 bit can be an issue with keyboard mapping. Have you tried running the keyboard software in compatibility mode to see if that allows the use of the special function keys?

No I didn't try it yet. Have been watching the forums for a while hoping someone else would be the guinea pig 🙂 I just started a backup on that machine; as soon as it's finished I'll give that keyboard driver a go and let u know. No better time, right?!

Ok, just to recap, trying to install hp's Vista 32-bit multimedia keyboard driver onto my Vista 64-bit system.
Downloaded and saved the file onto my desktop. Double click on the icon, the installer started fine, then this:
Tried right click, properties, on the same icon and I don't see an option for 32-bt Vista in the compatibility mode selections. Am I missing something?

Run it as Windows XP SP2. The 64 bit version of Vista will natively run 32 bit code, thus will run the keyboard driver in XP 32 bit compatibility, shich should give you full functionality of the keyboard.

Nope, that didn't work. Same error message (only it came up faster this time cuz yaknow it was in XP mode :P)
BUT I do have full functionality of my special buttons now! Taking ur idea of finding another system with the same keyboard.. well I have access to a new hp 64-bit system with a similar usb wirless hp multimedia keyboard (essentially the same special buttons) and so I downloaded and installed the keyboard driver package for that system and it worked on my two yr old keyboard!!! I am so happy now pushing all of my buttons! ty
ps but plz to be getting hp to make it easier to find keyboard specific drivers k 🙂

My machine is 32 bit Vista Home Premium.
I installed the multimedia driver and now all the keys on the left side work - I think - I don't have the nerve to try that half-moon key again - maybe tomorrow.
Also, it did open the dvd drive with the top key on the right side. I will leave until later what the circle and the square are for on the right side keys. I will guess the others are for beginning and end of discs and run/stop.
I do not know why I did not get the upgraded driver sometime or other as I have requested updates through HP Update and I keep getting boxes popping up telling me that all my drivers are up to date.
I also do not understand why there is no documentation a normal person can find.

Hey I hope you have your driver by now but if you don't here is a link
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=pv-67755-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3872428&os=2100&lang=en
That is for the vista 64 version though. If you don't have 64 then try doing a search for the a6750f that pc comes with the keyboard your referring to so it has the drivers listed on their website.
Good luck and I'm sorry no one helped you with something so simple before now.

In the course of this thread I received the exact link I needed to get the updated driver. It still bothers me that the keyboard was shipped with a driver that did not work but at least the problem was satisfactorially taken care of.
It also bothers me that HP Update did not take care of it a long time ago. I thought that was what its purpose was. If you have two instances of the same problem popping up at the same time, we can only speculate on how many other people there are with this problem.
I also checked the pdf document referred to and was overjoyed with what I found. All the mystery symbols explained so even I can understand it. This is exactly the sort of thing I was looking for. If only they could have packed a simple insert with this information with the keyboard when it was packed.

I just tried to install the keyboard drivers mentioned above on a box with XP x64 on it, and they don't work at all. I have searching the HP site and can't find anything else for the KB-0630 keyboard. HP's site sucks when it comes to finding drivers, and especially on x64 OSes (we have some HP printers where the drivers just do not exist at all either).

I use Vista, running a Pavillion s3123w Slimline desktop. Similar delima to all above. Surprising that I had better luck placing "keyboard multi-media" in a search engine than the specific model#. KB-0630 is an "Enhanced Multimedia PS/2" keyboard. The keys we are referring to on the left are called "softkeys" and are customizable to whatever we want, except the first 2, the "MOON" and "Club+hp" buttons.
After pressing link below, press "download only" button on screen. Then select run at the pop-up. An installation mssg will pop-up. Installation is approx 10 minutes (DSL) with no hour-glass indicator. Trust that it's installing. After install, it will prompt you to shut down all programs, save all files, and press the "Restart" button on the final pop-up.
For the SoftKeys, your default layout will be as follows... top to bottom (Display Labels are in parenthesis):
MOON = Sleep Mode. You will NOT lose anything open. Your monitor will turn off, and the light on your PC will turn Yellow. To resume, press the Space Bar. All will return to exactly how it was before pressing MOON.
Club + hp = "Launching My HP Club" and opens the HP PC Learning Center webpage.
GLOBE = "Launching Internet" and opens this link... http://hp-desktop.aol.com.
ENVELOPE = "Launching E-mail". An HP webpage will open on how to customize this button. (see "Customizing" below)
MAGNIFIER = "Searching Internet". An HP webpage will open on how to customize this button. (see "Customizing" below)
QUESTION = "Launching Help" and opens Windows Help and Support off your HD (HardDrive).
For the MediaKeys on the right, only the "DOT" button can be customized.
DOT = "Launching EASY MEDIA CREATOR" and opens Roxio Basic off your HD.
CUSTOMIZING. There are 5 customizable keys: GLOBE, ENVELOPE, MAGNIFIER, QUESTION, and DOT.
Open Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, then Keyboard. Click the "Buttons" tab. They are in the following order along with their Button Capability :
Internet = GLOBE. Local File (open a file on your HD) and Remote Page (launch a webpage in a new tab).
Burn CD/DVD = DOT. Local File.
Help = QUESTION. Local File.
E-Mail = ENVELOPE. Local File and Remote Page.
Search = MAGNIFIER. Local File and Remote Page.
Double-Click any in "Configure a keyboard button" to change Display Label and/or Address. From the "Choose a button capability" drop-down, choose "Simple Local File with Label" for HD Programs or "Complex Remote Page with Label" for web URLs. For Explorer users (most likely for the GLOBE button) choose "Simple Local File..." and cut & paste the following into the address: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe. A button is only updated when "Apply" is pressed. All buttons can be returned to default by selecting "Default" then "Apply" at the "Choose a button capability" drop-down.
bulletsforbrownie is NOT my email addr. Just Reply here, if helpful or with any further input. --FatFreeBrownie
PS-- Now that the Eject Media Buttons work, using them to open and close the drive doors, rather than pressing and pushing the drive doors by hand, will extend the life of the door motors. Tah! Tah!
