Hi wondering if you could help.

 

Reformatted HO Compaq DX2420 and need to reinstall newtork adapter i think as i have no internet via Erthnet cable 

 

Details 

 

Adapter vendor - realtek Semiconductor

Adapter Name - RTL8139/810X family fast ethernet NIC

Subsys - HP 

Bus Type - PCI-E 

 

Running Windows XP professional 2002 - SP3

I have downloaded the above and installed but i am still getting 

 

The Drivers for this device are not installed in the device manager.

 

The erthnet cable is not being detected.

Please go to the device manager and click on the ethernet controller device needing drivers.

 

Then click on the Details tab on the top of the ethernet controller device window you opened.

 

Post the string of characters that start with PCI\VEN.

Hi:

 

The most likely cause for the Realtek NIC not installing is because of that missing smbus controller device which is part of the motherboard that controls access to the NIC.

 

The hardware ID's confirm that is a Realtek 10/100 NIC so that driver should have worked.

 

This is the driver you need for the smbus controller.  Install that first and reboot.

Then reinstall the Realtek NIC driver posted above.

 

If that still doesn't get the ethernet adapter installed, then use the driver directly from Realtek at the link below.

 

You want the 5th one on the list WXP auto install.

I accidentally uninstalled my Ethernet Controller when I was deleting some unwanted programs. Wondering if you could help me get to the driver I need?
