Hi again, thanks for the quick reply. I downloaded the file and I followed the instrcutions on it but when I got to the point of where to open the help.exe it just says "This app can't run on your pc". I have no idea of what to do to solve this problem.

You're very welcome.
You can't run the file.
Download and install this free 7 Zip utility.
http://7-zip.org/download.html
Then right click on the driver zip file you downloaded from netgear, you will see a 7-Zip option. Select that option and select the extract to F31XV18 option.
7-zip will extract the zip file into the F31XV18 folder and that is the folder you need to browse to using my instructions above to manually install the driver.
Once again, if the driver fails to install, you will need to purchase a new PCI network card.
There cheap and plentiful and you should have no problem getting a new one to work with W8.

Just as you said it couldn't find the driver so I guess my dad didn't replace that part of the computer when he renovated it but it's always a bit of fun buying new things to a computer, I need a better processor and some other small things anyways so the only problem now is surviving without my computer for a day or two 😉
Thanks for everything

Hi, Mejosh:
Please post the hardware ID's for the devices you need drivers for.
To find those, go to the device manager and click on the devices with yellow ? marks.
Then click on the Details tab. Post the string of characters you see there.
You need to have XP SP2 or SP3 in order to see that info.
