Sorry but I was wondering how did my graphic cards changed? 😞
Sorry i'm just very confused because befire I was using windows 7 home prem (OEM) to windows 8, my laptop (device manager) was saying that i have the graphic cards
AMD Radeon HD 7400M Series (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM v1.20)
Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000
and when i changed to windows 7 ultimate suddenly my graphic card changed to
Intel(R) HD Graphics Family
Radeon (TM) HD 64700M
maybe I did something wrong during the install of the new OS?

Hi:
I'm sorry but I can't explain why that is.
The product specs state the PC has the 6470M, so I wouldn't know why it stated it had the 7470M when W8 was installed.
I don't think you did anything wrong when you installed the W7.

Hello alekc17. I understand you need a driver for your Ethernet card.
The best way for me to locate the correct driver is by having you provide me the Hardware IDs. To locate these IDs try the following.
- Click Start, type "Device Manager," and press Enter.
- Expand the section containing your Ethernet Card.
- Right click on the device and select "Properties."
- Navigate to the "Details" tab.
- Select "Hardware Ids" from the drop-down menu.
- Post these.
Once I have the IDs I can locate the driver for you. I hope you have a great day!
Please click the white star under my name to give me Kudos as a way to say "Thanks!"
Click the "Accept as Solution" button if I resolve your issue.

Hi, robocop:
If you are using XP, click on the ethernet controller device in the device manager.
Then click on details tab.
Post the string of characters you see.
You need XP SP2 or newer in order to see that info.

Hello, I've just installed windows 8 pro on my recently formatted hdd but when I tried to connect to the internet I got an error message saying I didn't have a driver for my ethernet controller. Luckily I found this post but when I tried your genius method I couldn't find the web page or the driver for it :S
Here is the ID string
PCI\VEN_100B&DEV_0020&SUBSYS_F3111385&REV_00\4&8808f29&0&4840
Any help with the link to the driver would be greatly appreciated 🙂

Hi, Erik:
What you need a driver for is the NETGEAR FA311 Fast Ethernet PCI Adapter.
You can try the driver for it directly from the Netgear site at the link below.
I imagine it must the the last one listed on the right...
FA311 and FA312 Adapters Driver Version 1.8
http://downloadcenter.netgear.com/en/
I downloaded the driver by checking the box of not having a serial number and just picked a purchase date.
The driver will have to be installed manually.
You extract the zip file using the free 7-zip file utility. It should create a F31XV18 folder.
Go to the device manager and click on the ethernet controller needing drivers. Then click on the driver tab. Click on update driver. Select the Browse my computer for software method and browse to the F31XV18 folder.
Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and hopefully the driver will install.
If not, time for a new network card that will work with W8. The one you have in there is ancient and I don't see any support for it for W7 or Vista, let alone W8.
