I have a 2311x monitor and holding the power button for about 10 seconds or more cleared my problem...thanks to all of you for your help!!

I don't know what the Power Button Lockout was   created for but it should be tossed in the trash NOW! I have had lots of trouble with it and other users have too. GET RID OF THE GODDAMN THING! (Or I will never buy another HP monitor.)
