I have an HP w1707 monitor. I have been using this computer for 7-8 years without problem but for last few weeks, i have got a problem with a menu that keeps popping up on menu screen even though I don't push any button on monitor. I push menu button to make it leave but it comes back immediately. Sometimes, it will go away by itself for a few minutes and then come back. I am not sure what's the issue. Could it be a virus? Is my monitor dying? Do I need to buy a new PC/Monitor or is there a possible solution? Please help. Thanks.

Hey@ Leh_IN,

I was going through your post and would like to help you. Thank you for sharing the issue details.

This seems to be a software issue on the monitor.

I recommend you to perform the factory reset from the menu option on the monitor and check if that takes care of the issue.

Also, try to perform the steps below and check if that takes care of the issue.

  • Disconnect the power cable from the back of the monitor.
  • Then press and hold the power button of the monitor for at least 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the monitor and turn the monitor on.
  • Check if the issue happens again.

Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again.

Hello Resolv_S

Thanks for your reply. I tried what you said but it's not working. I had tried unplugging and pressing the button for 30 seconds which worked for a few minutes before the popup screen came back. I also tried Factory Reset which worked again for a few minutes only but not working anymore.

I got a few more issue where My monitor keeps going to sleep repeatedly when I shutdown my PC and now I am also getting the screen saying "Auto adjustment in Progress". Not sure what's going on.

Hi@Leh_IN,

Thanks for the reply.

This looks like a firmware issue.

I recommend you to contact phone support for any warranty support options as there are no options to flash the firmware on the monitor.

Hope the above information provides a clarification on the doubt.

Let me know for more
