Hello ritesh_ahuja

Not all features are available in all editions of Windows 8. Systems may require upgraded and/or separately purchased hardware, drivers and/or software to take full advantage of Windows 8 functionality. See http://goo.gl/P79A for details.

Hi,

I am facing the same problem. The touch screen works but its calibration is not correct. Touching on a point on the screen does not deliver the touch event at the correct coordinate.

I tried setting up the calibration in Windows 8 Pen and Touch settings but it did not work.

Thanks,

Ayush

Hello Travis,

Can you please confirm what Special Drivers would be required and who would provide the same. The link you posted didnt help me as it redirected to MS website which doesnt have helpful information.

As far as I am aware the Touch functionality drivers need to be provided by HP & not Microsoft. What is the latest driver that has been released by HP for Windows 8?

My HP DreamScreen 400 for is now worth less cause I can not use the basic functionality for which it was purchased which is touch :mansad:

Thanks,

Jacob

Hello Ayush_R and Jacob

The HP Dream Screen 400 is an Internet Appliance. With that said, here is a quote from Wikipedia in regards to an Internet Appliance: "The basic design idea behind Internet appliance is that it can be made cheaper and much more usable by narrowing its functionality and limiting available configuration options." Wikipedia: Internet Appliance

If you have Windows 8 running on it, but the touch screen isn't working, you are probably missing a touch screen driver. The Dream Screen 400 was intended to run the operating system HP DreamScreen 400 OS. It is a custom operating system, designed specifically for the device, that provides specific functions and allow applications written for it to run. While it may be possible to run another operating system on the HP Dream Screen, drivers would need to be created. I can't speculate on future availability of drivers, but at this time there are currently no available Windows 8 drivers (nor are there drivers for any other operating systems) available from HP for the HP Dream Screen 400.

Hi,

I spoke to Microsoft as well and I could not find the sollution on this. When I call HP the answer is that since it is new Windows 8 you need to speak to Microsoft.

When we call up Microsoft they say since you using HP product you need to contact HP for drivers.

Both the companies does not have the sollution and tossing us here and there.

Don't even know if there is any one who can get us the sollution..............

Hi. First of all, I have not had good luck with Microsoft calibration. You can undo the calibration by clicking Reset on the Display tab of the Tablet PC Settings menu, which is under Hardware & Sound in the Control Panel. Click Yes when prompted to let the digitizer tool make changes.

As for the touch screen not working, here are a few things to try. Hope they help:

•Activate Windows and install updates by pressing the Windows logo key + W. Type "Activate Windows" into the search field, and then click on the Activate Windows icon that appears in the upper left corner of the screen. In PC Settings, click on Activate Windows, wait for your computer to connect to Microsoft, and then follow the onscreen instructions. Restart the computer. Press the Windows logo key + X, and select Control Panel from the menu. In the upper right corner of Control Panel, select Large Icons from the View by drop down. Click Windows Update. Install touch and/or graphics driver updates. Restart the computer.
•Another thing to try: Go to www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html and click Drivers and Software.  In the search field, enter your product name or number, and then click Next. Select your operating system from the drop-down, and then click next. (If you don't know if your operating system is 32- or 64-bit, press the Windows logo + X key again and select System from the menu.) Follow the onscreen directions to install any appropriate drivers. Restart the computer.
•If the touch still doesn't work, try this: Press press the Windows logo + X key, and select Device Manager from the menu. In Device Manager, click the little triangle next to Display Adapters to expand the list. Right-click on the graphics card and select Disable. When asked if you want to disable the card, click yes. Restart the computer. You may have to tinker with your screen resolution.
I hope at least one of these options help you.

Thanks Travis, now I cant blame either HP nor Microsoft for the lack of Drivers. Cause the choice of Installing WIndows 8 was mine.

Just wanted to know is their any feedback process for HP where in I can place a request for Drivers for Windows 8 to be developed, it would be of great help for a lot of other users just like myself.

HP is a big company with a big market share value & I am sure they wont let users of their products like me down

Mr Travis,

DreamScreen 400 is not just an internet device. These days there are better internet devices.

DS 400 has some contents in the form of movies with obscene content. Such contents are not erasable.

And most of the other contents are too boring to keep for more than a week.

Though I bought a bios locked DS 400, I could load Windows 7 in it and use it as a general purpose device.

This device has true potential as a general purpose device - HP started shipping unlocked DS400s. Now Windows 8 - improper drivers causing hell lot of nuissance as far as the main attraction is concerned - that is the touch screen functionality.

It is appropriate that HP should resolve this issue and post supportive drivers in their website.

Regards.

Hi,

It's more then a month now that HP is not been able to resolve the issue, it is really disappointing that they don't even have the date by when they can release the relevant driver for touchscreen.
