I recently purchased a used 22bw monitor. It has the appropriate 12V power block with correct

amps power block as per the label on the monitor. It works great for a few minutes and then goes black.

If I remove and reinsert the power input from the power block it comes back on and works ok

for another few minutes. Could just keep doing this but that would be a bit lame. The system I

am using is a Lenovo I-5 without a seperate video card and the Windows 7 Pro OS. I have turned

off all sleep settings in Windows and in the monitor itself but it still goes black after a few minutes

no matter whether I am watching video or just typing. Could this be a bad power inverter. I have

fixed other lcd monitors by replacing capacitors but I doubt that is the issue here. Any ideas?

Thanks very much.

Hello @STASC,

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.

I understand that you are having issues with the HP Pavilion 22bw Backlit Monitor not staying on. I am providing you with some steps for you to try below:

Step 1. Unplug the power cord from the back of the monitor and the wall

Step 2. Hold the power button down for at least one minute

Step 3. Plug the power cord back into the monitor and then into the wall outlet (not a power bar or surge protector)

Step 4. Press the Menu button on the monitor

Step 5. Navigate to the Factory Reset option and select it

If the issue persists after this you can try the monitor on another computer to see if it continues. If it does it appears to be a physical issue and I think it would be best if you contact HP Technical Support for repair options.

I'm sorry to revive and old post but I have been having the exact same problem. It's been happening for about two months, I have followed the advice on this post and I find that it helps for a few minutes longer but it continues to turn off and I have to again unplug it and plug it back in. My husband has the same monitor and I even swapped out each peice of the power cord and power box to see if it was a problem with the cord but it still turns off. I have tried different plugs in my house as well, all without fixing the problem. What else can I try? I am a photographer and trying to edit photos while the monitor keeps turning off is highly frustrating. Thank you!

My pavillion bw22 started going black this week. I've followed you instructions a couple times and the screen is restored for another hour or more, but does fail again. Any other ideas?
