Thanks that fixed the problem on my desktop pc. My laptop (HP pavilion g series) did not have that problem, but whenever I click on the Action Log under the updates tab I get a windows error message: "HP Support Assistant has stopped working. A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." Do I have to reinstall Support Assistant or is there something else I should do? The program seems to work fine otherwise.

@Weatherman
Glad you solved the problem on your dekstop machine. The problem on the laptop would likely be fixed with the same procedure if it bothers you.The message you get does indicate the program has crashed when attempting to view History log, but if other functions are fine and you really don't mind the one feature not working...
