I currently own a HP Omen Accelerator with a Nvidia 1080 ti installed, I have just purchased a Nvidia RTX 2080 ti founders edition, does anyone know if its compatible with the HP Omen Accelerator?

Good question. It hasn't been updated in the compatability list, but that doesnt mean it wont work.

Ill put an inquiry to HP and see what they say.

I will get back to you as soon as I find the answer.

As per the other thread where the solution was found, it appears it is a compatability issue.

Only thing I can suggest if you dont have another PC with thunderbolt, is to contact HP Support and see if they can help.

Explain the situation and that the firmware update worked, but you have no way of connecting to add the firmware update.

Hello guys,

my OMEN Accelerator is on the way and I wanted to install a RTX 2080ti to be used with my Razer Blade.

there are couple of model of RTX that will fit, using only 2 GPU slots and compatible with OMEN max size for the eGPU graphic card (330 x 140 x 53)

Apologies but I didn't understand the compatibility issue nor the solution.

@Photoray002  can you please explain further?  is it "only" a firmware issue on the accelerator? (I have a TB3 port on my laptop to be used for this purpose if needed)

thx

It appears to be firmware related. IF your other laptop has a USB-C port, you need to make sure its actually wired for Thunderbolt, and not just USB. IF so, you should be good to go.

Thank you Photoray002 - sounds like a good news

I will attempt to flash the Accelerator with the later firmware and I will keep you posted

Seems it is not that easy: :

I have red that the PSU max deliver about 420w and a GTX1080ti needs 600w and so does the 2080ti - my feeling the upgrade of the firmware is only 1 piece of the puzzle to solve in order to get it to work together inside the OMEN accelerator

see here:

and here

So using the OMEN I will need to

- Upgrade the PSU with a Silverstone SFX SX800-LTI 800W (200.00 Euros at least)

- add the 6>8 Pin cable adaptor (3.50 euros shipping included)

I will keep on searching for intels and hints, but my feeling it won't be an easy ride...

Cheers

Thanks for the update. If your psu is only 420w, ya you will need to upgrade it. Keep me posted. Thanks.

I listed some of the 2080ti cards available on the market (the list is not exhaustive and it is still a work in progress )

Specs are collected from Internet pages from manufacturers

Omen Accelerator specs for the acceptable graphic card max sizes : 330 x 140 x 54 mm

In green, with black border, shows the RTX cards with size compatible with OMEN accelerator's specs  (size constrains solely and not firmware nor PSU power compatibility)

In red, the cards that cannot be installed inside the OMEN Accelerator due to size constrains

(OMEN PSU still needs to be upgraded to 650w)

If anyone tried one of the setup above, please let us know here!
