I was wondering what CPU's are compatible w8th my HP pavilion gaming desktop 690-0040 as I have a spare ryzen 7 2700X sitting around waiting to be put into my pc

I already have a cooler btw

What about the ryzen 5 3600?

It's tdp is 65w

I concur with this person's reply...I highly doubt it will work because HP most likely has not released a BIOS update that adds support for any other processor beyond the Ryzen 7 2700 (which is a W11-supported processor).

I suggest that you forget about installing anything better than the AMD Ryzen7-2700.

Unfortunately, HP does not have any release notes for any of the BIOS updates for your PC's motherboard., so we can't even tell you that it might be worth a try.
