HP Desktop PC M01-F0000a (2W899AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi

My son's gaming desktop needs some upgrades, so I need to know what to buy.  I was told by the salesperson that I could add space and speed but not a graphics card.  Someone else told me that anything can be upgraded, so here I am.

This is what I have:

System Type x64-based PC

Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 8.00 GB

System Model HP Desktop M01-F1xxx

System Name DESKTOP-I48NTHI

Processor AMD Ryzen 5 4600G with Radeon Graphics, 3700 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 12 Logical Processor(s)

I would like to upgrade to a Ryzen 7, at least. We obviously need more RAM and also a new graphics card.

Can it be done? What do I buy?

Thank you for having patience with my ignorance and mercy on my soul.

Yoly

https://support.hp.com/au-en/product/hp-desktop-pc-m01-f0000a/38096274/model/2100021581/product-info

probably this motherboard on the other hand

Motherboard Specifications, Erica5

  • TDP: up to 65 W
  • Socket type: LGA 1200
Motherboard supports the following processor upgrades:
Processor
TDP
AMD Ryzen 3 4300G (Renoir) 3.8 GHz Base frequency, up to 4.0 GHz maximum boost clock, 4 MB L3 cache, and 4 cores
65 W
AMD Ryzen 5 4600G (Renoir) 3.7 GHz Base frequency, up to 4.2 GHz maximum boost clock, 8 MB L3 cache, and 6 cores
65 W
AMD Ryzen 7 4700G (Renoir) 3.6 GHz Base frequency, up to 4.4 GHz maximum boost clock, 8 MB L3 cache, and 8 cores
65 W

  • Dual channel memory architecture (One DIMM per channel)
  • Two DDR4 UDIMM (288-pin) sockets
  • Supports up to PC4-25600 (DDR4-3200)
  • Supports 4 GB and 8 GB DDR4 UDIMMs
  • Supports up to 4 GB on 32-bit systems
    note:
32-bit systems cannot address a full 4.0 GB of memory.
  • Supports up to 32 GB (unbuffered) with two 16 GB DIMMs on 64-bit systems

it is likely that the power supply is insufficient, for a new graphics card
the max possible, always so good this motherboard
