I recently upgraded my monitor to an LG 34 QHD curved gaming monitor. My Pavilion Desktop TP-01 (16 gigs RAM, 11th gen Intel Core i7-11700F @ 2.50 Ghz) came with an AMD Radeon RX 55 GPU. MSFS on Xbox for PC says I don't meet minimum specs, so I think I'd like to upgrade to a more powerful GPU. My question: How can I know before buying if the new GPU will fit the case and not overtax the computer's power supply?

hi
If you want to replace/add a graphics card, there are a few things you need to check
You have to check the manufacturers data, for the chosen model , Dimensions, power requirements, and additional pci connectors required >see @old_geekster 's kb
Upgrade Video Card - HP Support Community - 7481981

Upgrade, for games, what to do, how to get an idea of what t... - HP Support Community - 8529359
for the graphics card, I often recommend the Asus site with filter options
just 500w
https://www.asus.com/motherboards-components/graphics-cards/all-series/filter?Spec=683
See if others offer it, price/performance may vary...
sometimes no choice, you will have to change the power supply as well

Thank you for this help. I have been to the HP support specifications page for my computer, but the specs do not tell me a critical piece of information: the size of the power supply in my specific build. How can I get that without opening the box?
02-04-2023 01:24 AM
You didn't give me the exact model of the computer!!
but the power of the power supply must be visible on the back of the computer
if your graphic card is a small model, it should be between 180 / 350 w I think

Thanks! I checked and there is no information at all on the outside of the box, back included. I did get the model # from HP based on my serial #. The model # is
HP Pavilion Desktop PC TP01-2000i (1K4B7AV)
Nowhere on the HP site, including the chat box and the detailed specs page, can I find the power supply information. Have you any idea, short of opening the case, how I might get this info?
Thanks.

I do not have a better product number. I tried to insert a screenshot hee, but the msg board won't do it (too large a file?). But you can reproduce what I get by searching for a new product using my serial #: [Personal Information Removed]
On that resultant page, if you select Product information, then Product Specifications from the dropdown list, you will see a list of model numbers, but not this specific one. So how do I know whether or not my machine has the same power supply as one of those on the dropdown list?
Thanks!
