Hp omen 880-068
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a hp omen pre built gaming pc with a ryzen 5 1400, higos motherboard, and a GeForce gtx 1030 as my graphics card. I want to upgrade my graphics card because some of the games don’t run as high as FPS or look as good as I want them to and I don’t think it’s the ryzen 5 1400. So I was wondering what graphics cards I could upgrade to.

@LoneWolf6125 , welcome to the forum.

Here is a HP Knowledge Base article that will help you know what to consider when upgrading your video card: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Gaming-Knowledge-Base/Upgrade-Video-Card/ta-p/7481981

The major problem that you will have with upgrading the video card is the power supply unit (PSU).  It is only 300W and doesn't have any PCIe (1x6-pin or 1x8-pin) power connectors.  This will definitely limit the power of the video card.  Here is an example of a card the will give you everything that you need: https://www.newegg.com/msi-geforce-gtx-1660-gtx-1660-ventus-xs-6g-oc/p/N82E16814137400?&quicklink=tr...

The problem is, the card requires a PSU with at least 450W with 1x8-pin PCIe power connector.

I like Corsair products.  Also, a fully modular PSU is very good for smaller mid-size cases.  They allow you to use only the cables that are absolutely necessary.

Another upgrade that will pay you big dividends for your money is a boot M.2, SSD.  There is One M.2 socket 3, key M on your motherboard.  You can use the current HDD for storage.  Here is a HP Knowledge Base article to help with adding the SSD if you decide to do so:  https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Knowledge-Base/Upgrading-Desktop-or-Laptop-to-a-SSD/ta-p/73048...

I know this is a lot of information to digest.  Read the articles carefully and they will help.

Thank you so much. Do you have any recommendations for the power supply that I get? I was already looking at the gtx 1660 so I most likely get that graphics card.

You are very welcome, @LoneWolf6125!

Here is a fully modular PSU from Corsair:  https://www.newegg.com/corsair-rmx-series-rm650x-2018-cp-9020178-na-650w/p/N82E16817139232

It is a 2018 model, but would still have a full warranty.  If you don't want to buy it, at least it will be a good example for what you need.  This pandemic has made prices go through the roof.  The PSU is the backbone of the computer.  It is not the place to save money; especially when using high-end video cards.  They require clean, stable power.
