compatibility question

Hello, I want to ask a question. Does the hp 8437 motherboard have GDDR6? Or is it compatible with it? I'm not too sure about computers. My computer is the omen 880 with a i5-8400, 8 Ram 1 stick, GTX 1060.

What is the Product Number of the computer? I need this information to review the specifications of it. Please don't furnish the Serial # or other personal information. You can find the Product Number at the bottom of the page when you open HP Support Assistant.  The Product Number given doesn't appear to be correct.

@avocadizzalive, no apology necessary!  None of us knew anything about computers when we first started using them.  The knowledge will come with time.

The memory in your computer is DDR4-2666.  It is not compatible with DDR6.

Look at the section titled "Memory" to find this information.  There is all of the information that you need for your computer; including for the Motherboard.

Hey I just found a post and it was the exact same product and product number, the HP Support assistant said  The 2060 or 70 can run on the exact same pc. So I'm not sure.

Your computer has a 500W PSU, but I am not certain if it has the 1x8-power connector.  You can open the case to check.

No!  There are no specifications that list the PCIe power connectors.  Your best option is to open the side panel and examine the connectors.  The connectors should be easy to see.

The only way to check the PSU is to open the case and read the label.

As for the GPU completabilities, what nVidia recommend is highly overcompensating, I personally tested multiple HP prebuilds with stock 400W Platinum PSU and with RTX2060 the power draw is less than 250W with RTX2070, the power draw is less than 280W, so there is plenty of room.

Another example, HP are currently selling multiple configurations with an option for RTX2060Super, which has the same power draw as 2070, and are pairing it with the same 400W PSU, so that's an indication that the power supply is plenty. 

And of course check to see if you have 6+2 pin PCIe power cable, but considering that your current card is 1060, you most likely do.

Thank you, But at the end of your reply, you said it most likely does, do you mean it most likely has 8 pins or 6 pins?
