Does your laptop battery charge only when the laptop is turned off? Click here to view the solution

Hi, I have HP pavilion gaming laptop 15-dk1001ne. Every time I turn it on, during starting Windows, after a few seconds, the machine suddenly turns off, and after that, the Caps Lock indicator light blinks 5 times and 3 times fast. It seems the motherboard or the GPU is the main problem? Where can I get the replacement of the motherboard? Thanks in advance for the response.

Hi @CJBurgos,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-dk1001ne shuts down during boot, and the Caps Lock blinks 5 long and 3 short is related to the embedded controller. This is a hardware-level failure code.

What You Can Try First (If You Haven’t Already)

1. Power Reset

  1. Disconnect the charger
  2. Remove the battery (if removable)
  3. Hold the power button for 30 seconds
  4. Reconnect the power and try to boot

2. BIOS Recovery (if accessible)

Try pressing Windows + B while powering on the laptop. If the BIOS recovery is functional, it may attempt to restore the firmware.

If these steps don’t help, the motherboard likely needs repair or replacement.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
