HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 17-cd1xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop with a complete new Windows 10, without any antivirus/firewall apps, newest driver, BIOS and so on, has clearly struggle with the DPC latency, which means, that it will have problems to make real time audio possible. So I can`t use that performance to record and mix audio.

I would attache a picture: 4800 us for DPC latency, same at ISR, and hard pagefault counts.

If that happens with a virgin system, I`ve no idea, how to fix that.

ok, just to clarify:

- I do use the most actual drivers

- I tried the solution with the "CMD"-> "bcdedit /set disabledynamictick yes" - it replys a success but

the latency stays incredible high. (as described here: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Software-and-How-To-Questions/High-DPC-Latency-on-Pavilion-17... )

Any ideas?

@Chew-Bah-ka

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Did this happen after a recent window or software update?
  • Have you made any hardware/software changes?
  • Have you tried any troubleshooting steps?

While you respond to that, let's try these steps:

Hard Reset: Follow steps from the link: https://hp.care/2GnkMa8. (do not skip any troubleshooting steps even if you feel steps are repeating)

BIOS default:

  1. Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
  2. Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
  3. On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
  4. Press F10 to Save and Exit.
  5. Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
  6. Follow the prompts to restart your computer. If the issue persists, follow the next steps.

Firstly, perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant: (do not skip any troubleshooting steps if you feel steps are repeating)

To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.

Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.

  1. To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon https://support.hp.com/doc-images/932/c05040382.jpg.
  2. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  3. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  4. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  5. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  6. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

And, also run BIOS Update: Follow steps from the link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c00042629

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Many thanks to that quick reply!

  1. Did this happen after a recent window or software update?
  2. Have you made any hardware/software changes?
  3. Have you tried any troubleshooting steps

@1.) It is a complete new computer. Because the original HP-system which was delivered with has such problems, I made a complete new windows 10 on it. Problems stayed.

@2.) no, surely not, the laptop is a virgin, just tried a complete, virgin new system, didn't help

@3.) yes: complete new system instead of delivered one, because the delivered one didn't perform and had a lot of unnecessary in it like "minecraft" or "facebook app" or things like that (don't remember).

@Firstly, perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant

I did both, at HP Support Assistant with pain in the stommage, because apps like that are causing mostly audio problem, because they try to catch system infos, which cause normally latency issues. But you recommend that,  I tried that, that didn't help: everything is new and up to date.

The only apps I have and use:

- firefox

- 7zip

- irfanview

- thunderbird

- latency monitor

- dpc latency

Beside of that, my system is completly new and up to date.

The aim is, to have a performing audio/video laptop.

Should I try that steps above, even when it is not a used but a new laptop? Everything is up to date...

@Chew-Bah-ka

Thank you for posting back.

Try updating the BIOS files and check. If that fails then,

I would suggest performing system factory reset will put the computer back to the original factory settings in this way all corrupted and outdated software will be removed.

While doing the recovery there is an option to backup your personal files. If you have not previously done one now is a good time.

Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows )You can also contact HP support for assistance. They can remotely access your system to help alleviate difficulties: www.hp.com/contacthp/

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi,

again thanks for that quick reply:

- because it is a new laptop, I don't need to recover any data

- I tried the hard reset

- I updated the HP-support assistent and performed a bios update - not needed, done before. It stays at F.13 for systempatine 8745 03.30.

dpc latency stays incredibly high. Can I upload a screenshot of this? Realtime-audio tasks seems to be impossible with that normally high performance laptop.

The supportpage is not reachable, should try it later... Yeah, that runs as my laptop does... 😕

ok, the support-page was now reachable. While searching for the serial number, he found the right notebook.

After clicking through FAQ and after that through the virtual assistents questions, he offered me the possibility to set a personal request.  All I've to do is, to put again my serial number in. But sadly again: that doesn't work. It is really hard, to receive support about that problem.
