Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-r1000 (8Z7S7AV)

After the bios update, the computer works very badly. It heats up a lot when idle or sees 97 degrees under load (previously 80 with a thermal paste change). 3000 points decrease in cinebench test. FPS values decrease. I think they throttled the computer to prevent hall sensor problems, but there was never a hall sensor problem in the r1 series anyway. They also disabled the ability to go back for bios. A new update is needed very urgently

Hi @erennlsn

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It looks like the latest BIOS update for your Victus by HP 16-r1000 has significantly impacted performance, causing higher temperatures, FPS drops, and throttling issues.

Possible Causes & Workarounds

  • Thermal Throttling: HP may have adjusted power limits to prevent overheating, but this seems to have worsened performance.
  • Locked BIOS Rollback: Unfortunately, there is no option to revert to an older BIOS version.
  • Hall Sensor Adjustments: Some users speculate HP made changes to prevent sensor-related issues, even though the r1 series never had them.

What You Can Do

Check for a New BIOS Update

Adjust Power & Cooling Settings

  • Disable Turbo Boost in BIOS or Windows to reduce heat buildup.
  • Set a custom fan curve using HP’s OMEN Gaming Hub or third-party tools.

hi @Hawks_Eye . Unfortunately, you did not help me at all, you are just telling me the problems I have mentioned and other victus r1 series users have experienced. We are aware of these. Turning off the turbo or increasing the fan curve is not a solution, it is just like taking a painkiller. It is unacceptable to make this series devices, which work flawlessly and with high performance, this bad with a single update. We want you, as an hp employee, to urgently inform the higher authorities and relevant units that this update needs to be revised and re-released.

You're absolutely right—temporary workaround, not a real fix.
