My new laptop has just updated the BIOS to version F.25. I was expecting it to finally include battery protection when charging by reducing the maximum charge level to, say, 80%. But I didn't find anything like that there. There is some kind of battery protection, but I don't know what it does. Are there any plans to implement this feature in this relatively new laptop?

Hi @Láďa,

Welcome to HP Support Community!

We noticed that this thread hasn't had any updates in a while since your original post; while this is rare, we didn't want this post to remain unanswered, so, here's the solution to your query. We hope it helps you and everyone viewing this post 😊

As of now, the specific feature you're looking for, limiting the maximum charge level to protect the battery (such as capping it at 80%), is not typically included in HP BIOS updates for laptops. While HP frequently introduces enhancements and bug fixes in BIOS updates, the ability to set a specific charge limit on the battery is not a standard feature at the moment.

HP laptops do offer various battery management features aimed at optimizing battery health and performance. This might include features to extend battery lifespan by managing charging cycles, especially for devices used frequently with the AC adapter plugged in.

Regarding plans to implement a feature that caps the maximum charge level, HP tends to keep future updates and features confidential until they are officially released. It's recommended to keep checking for BIOS updates or HP's official announcements to see if a feature like this becomes available.
