@Robby-Rocket, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Crackling or scratchy audio especially from one speaker like the right speaker, on your HP ENVY 17" laptop with Bang & Olufsen speakers could indicate either a hardware issue (e.g., a blown speaker) or a software/driver problem. Let’s walk through some steps to diagnose and possibly fix it:

Basic Audio Test

Play audio using headphones:

  • If the crackling is not present in headphones, the issue is likely with the built-in speaker hardware.
  • If the crackling is also present in headphones, it's likely software/driver related.

Update or Reinstall Audio Drivers

  • Go to Device Manager (right-click Start > Device Manager).
  • Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
  • Right-click Realtek High Definition Audio or Bang & Olufsen Audio and choose:
  • Update driver > Search automatically.
  • If updating doesn’t work, Uninstall device, then restart your laptop to reinstall the driver automatically.
  • You can also manually download the latest audio drivers from HP support site: Official HP® Support

Disable Audio Enhancements
Sometimes Bang & Olufsen software or Windows audio enhancements cause distortion:

  • Right-click the sound icon in the taskbar > Sounds.
  • Under Playback, select your speaker and click Properties.
  • Go to the Enhancements tab.
  • Check Disable all enhancements.
  • Click Apply and test audio.

BIOS Audio Test (Isolate Hardware Fault)
HP laptops come with a built-in hardware diagnostic tool:

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Press Esc repeatedly, then F2 to enter HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  • Choose Component Tests > Audio.
  • Follow on-screen prompts to test speakers individually.

If the right speaker fails this test or still crackles, the speaker is likely damaged.

Physical Check (Optional but Useful)
Gently tap the speaker grille area on the right side.

If there's rattle or buzzing with physical vibration, it's likely a blown or loose speaker.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
