Same problem here with 2 X Spectre x360. One runs Windows 10, one runs Windows 8.1. The problem here is HPs website. I've deleted the update from both, to stop the annoying messages.

Same Problem here on a Spectre x360.

Even left it for 8 hours over night and it just sat there turning its cogs and doing nothing.

So Bring on the answers HP.

Same problem. Installation just spins forever.

OK tweeted hp support and they responded :  I don't see any recommendations there to restore the BiOS? Try these steps - ow.ly/100EVC ^Nikki

Now I took a look at the document- FIRST it recommends this is only of your machine has specific problems-which mine doesn't. So we don't want to create any by doing this. but being a bit curious I followed the steps - firstly for notebooks -http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00042629 then having followed the steps to get the details I went to  http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers#Z7_M0I02JG0KGVO00AUBO4GT60080 and enter my product number.

Then you get the chance to search for your drivers for your machine.

Interestingly mine generated an error. It couldn't generate specific drivers for my machine.

It then lists all the drivers that 'might be suitable'.

my bios is F.2F, 15/12/2015

This shows 3 bios updates. 1 is F.2F rev a 15/12/2015. The other 2 are for f.22 and f.32. The one that refuses to load is F.32AP1.

Now it is just a hunch but I reckon there is a chance that since the HP system cannot detect my driver set up that it cannot accurately detect my bios. That the f.32 isn't meant to be for my machine hence why it stalls.

Be interested to know what happens when you follow the same steps. Does HP reckognise your machine set up? How many bios updates do they offer you?

I suggest you don't do follow through and do the updates.

Hey intranceman,

Exactly the same happens to me. HP homepage doesn't recognize my machine as well... Only difference: The HP support assistant states I have BIOS F3.1 ...

I do hope there's a fix soon.

I mean, honestly HP? I don't require a BIOS-update to continue my work but please... If you deliver such a critical update to your customers please make sure it WORKS...

Just further information.  My computer is spectre X360.  current BIOS is f.31.  The update that does not install is f.32ap1.

If you go to the HP web site and search for drivers (in other words, don't detect suitable drivers on your PC), you can find the available drivers for the x360 including BIOS updates that are avaiable.  F.32ap1 does not show up here. My hunch is HP have pulled the update for some reason but the support tool carries on reporting an available update in error.

I'm having exactly the same problem as everyone here. Spectre x360, current BIOS F.30. Both tried updating from HP Support Assistent and manually by downloading sp74259.exe. Both ways just stall and do nothing.

The "personal opinion" of DP-K that you shouldn't install a BIOS update when your laptop is running fine is weird. HP, please be more open about this! For instance, are there any log files for the BIOS update on my pc that would provide insight about the update issues? I am having issues with my laptop and would like to be able to update.

Same problem here on my HP G130ND notebook.

It's updating for over 3 hours now, keeps saying: "Installing" @ HP Notebook System BIOS Update.

Can I safely stop the procedure?

Thanx in advance!

Hey Kootje,

I could savely stop the process without doing any harm to the system.

I think thats due to the fact, that the installation process is stucked before data is actually transferred into the BIOS. See above: It seems to have problems with actually recognizing the existing system and stops during checking...

Hope this doesn't kill your system, mine's still fine. 🙂
