@Gwaunnn, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Black Screen and Overheating on OMEN Gaming Laptop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Experiencing a black screen during gaming sessions on an OMEN Gaming laptop can be frustrating. Here are some steps to help diagnose and potentially resolve the issue:
Check for Overheating:
- Cooling System: Ensure the laptop's cooling system is functioning properly. Clear any obstructions from the vents and consider using a cooling pad to enhance air circulation.
- Surface: Use the laptop on a hard, flat surface to allow proper ventilation, as gaming on soft surfaces can obstruct airflow.
Monitor System Vitals:
- OMEN Command Center: Use the OMEN Command Center's System Vitals section to monitor CPU and GPU temperatures. This tool can help you identify if the laptop is overheating.
Task Manager:
- Process Management: Right-click the taskbar and select "Task Manager". Look for processes that are using excessive CPU or memory, especially those indicating high usage marked by orange or red. Close unnecessary tasks.
Clean the Laptop:
- Over time, dust can accumulate and obstruct the fans. Turn off and unplug the laptop, and use canned air to clean the vents and fans.
Energy Settings:
- Check your energy settings to ensure the laptop is not overclocking or straining the hardware unnecessarily during gaming.
BIOS Update:
- Ensure the BIOS is up-to-date. Sometimes a BIOS update can resolve compatibility and overheating issues.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
