Hello,

The location to the right of the trackpad is bulging up significantly which is where the battery is located, so I assume the issue is with a swollen battery. My warranty has expired. Is it advisable to replace the battery? I also read that it is possible to run laptops without the internal battery through AC power. Could I run this laptop without the internal battery? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi:

I recommend that you remove the battery to minimize further potential physical damage to the notebook.

Yes, you should be able to run the notebook without the battery.

Both service manuals on your notebook's support page indicate that your notebook has an external battery.

Can you post the product number for your notebook?

The parts list should have the part for the correct battery you need.

I just removed the battery a few minutes ago... that worked.  I never use the laptop without A/C power anyway, so that works for me.

Man are there a LOT of screws to take out just to remove the battery!  LOL!

Appreciate the quick response!

You're very welcome, Dan.

Yes, the notebooks made today have a lot of screws, and some are hidden under the rubber feet.

No fun to take apart.
