Are you able to visit other websites on your notebook? Yes
Does your notebook overheat? HWMonitor reads at 99c on load for gaming (I already answered this above), this is what I'm trying to find out.
Is it warm to the touch? Yes (I did already answer this question as well)
Could you provide me with the BIOS version installed on your computer? Insyde F.10, (07/08/18)

No disrespect but all this talk of 'is the laptop warm to the touch' makes me laugh. Any laptop with an 8th generation Intel CPU and a GTX GPU will be warm to the touch, unless you do nothing else but look at it sitting on the Windows 10 homescreen with nothing running in the background.
You won't get these laptops running anything of note (especially 3d games, which if they have a GTX GPU is what they're thermally designed for, or should be) without the GPU and CPU running at an absolute minimum of 70c. And at that termperature you will feel the heat through the laptop surface.

Right, thank you for taking the time to answer, but I've never had a laptop like this before and wanted to make sure everything was running as it should be, the 99c temp was a little worrying as the maximum processor temp is 100c and there was no sign of any thermal throttling or shutdown at 99c.

I'm not sure what options you will have in the BIOS of a Pavilion in comparison to the Omen I have for example. Have a look to see if you have any controls over the CPU wattage. I've reduced mine from 45w to 20w and, coupled with undervolting it and turning off turbo boost using Throttlestop, my CPU temperature has reduced from 85c to 75c when playing Witcher 3 on Ultra settings with no loss of performance. You could have a similar experience.

I'd rather not go messing around in the BIOS (just in case), but my CPU runs every game I have at 30+fps often at a stable 60) while at 99% processor performance anyway (some are obviously a lot higher, but I usually play with the VSync on as my monitor is only 60hz) and as a former console player I'm perfectly happy with that. So I'd much rather just lose the 1% processor performance and disable the turbo boost from settings if it's going to mean that my CPU dies later rather than sooner.
EDIT: How do I remove this as a solution? I didn't mean to select this as an answer. Anyway thank you for all your help but I won't mess with my settings any further than I already have.
