HP Pavilion Gaming - 15-ec0751ms
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Does the HP Pavilion 15 ec0751ms have an extra SSD slot so I can have another internal drive? I could've sworn the manual said something about it but I can't find any information about it. According to the product specs on the website, the laptop already has an SSD, but this doesn't sound right. Windows (including tools like Disk Defrag) and Crystal Disk Info both tell me this laptop has an HDD. It has 1 TB of space, not 256 GB. Did this model get upgraded recently or something? Did I choose the wrong model?

I have found this forum post asking if the SSD can be upgraded, but it doesn't mention if it has an extra slot or not. And it also says that the laptop already has an SSD, which I already stated that mine does not. I'm very confused right now.

OK.

I checked the TOSHIBA MQ04ABF100 model number, and it is a 1 TB 2.5" mechanical hard drive.

So, there is an empty M.2 slot to add a NVMe SSD.

I think you may have misunderstood what I was trying to say.

You asked if your notebook has an extra SSD slot, which I take to mean does it have two M.2 slots for SSD's and the answer is no.

There is one M.2 slot and your notebook's slot is empty, and the specs and parts list must be incorrect.

Hi:

Your notebook does not have a second M.2 slot to add a NVMe SSD.

We can only go by what the specs indicate so you either don't have the model you posted, or the specs are incorrect.

The parts list also indicates the same thing, so...

You would know if it had a NVMe SSD because the drive performance would be very fast.

You'll probably have to open it up and see for yourself whether or not there is a 1 TB 2.5" drive or a SSD.

But before you do that, google the part number for the disk drive showing up in the device manager under the Disk Drives device manager category.

That should tell you what type and model drive is installed.

That's odd. I talked with someone from live chat support that day and they told me my laptop did have a slot for an SSD card. I did double check my model and it seems to be the right one.

The notebook is definitely too slow to be an SSD.

The disk drive is TOSHIBA MQ04ABF100. It's definitely a 1 TB model. Googling it indicates that this is an HDD. Maybe it was some variation with the seller?

Ohhh! Thank you for clarifying! Yeah, by extra SSD slot I meant a slot to place an SSD, sorry about that!

You're very welcome.

If you want a recommendation for a NVMe SSD, go with either the Samsung 980 (not 980 Pro) NVMe SSD or the Western Digital Blue SN 570 NVMe SSD.

They are reasonably priced and have excellent performance.
