OMEN 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-b1000 (4Z7T3AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello.

I would like to clean the fans on my laptop. There is a shop that does a fan cleaning service i can use and i figured its best to let someone with exactly the right tools do the job.

It was mentioned that the thermal paste which is used with the fan can be replaced also.

I was advised to check that such a procedure will not affect my warrant or care plan and if possible get the response in writing (email).

How can i best go about finding out this information and receiving it in a form that means i am taking no chances with my warranty or care plan.

any help with this appreciated.

I have had the laptop for just under a year and would love to restore the fan power to its original glory. other than that it works fine.

So far so good with the OMEN. i love it. literally the best fun I've had gaming/developing in years and I was very well taken care of when i purchased it. glad to have found this community. respect.

Hi @Argondevil,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To clean the fans of an OMEN 16.1-inch gaming laptop, follow these steps.

  • Shut down your laptop: Turn off your OMEN laptop and unplug it from the power source. It's important to ensure that the laptop is completely powered down before attempting any cleaning.
  • Gather necessary tools: You will need a small Phillips screwdriver, compressed air canister, lint-free cloth, and possibly a small brush or cotton swabs.
  • Locate the fan vents: Identify the fan vents on your OMEN laptop. These are usually located on the sides or bottom of the laptop, and they allow air to circulate and cool the internal components.
  • Remove the bottom panel: Use the small Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws holding the bottom panel in place. Set the screws aside in a safe place. Carefully remove the panel to expose the internal components.
  • Locate the fan(s): Once the bottom panel is removed, you should be able to see the fan(s). They are usually connected to the heatsink and may be covered by a metal grille or plastic shroud.
  • Use compressed air: Hold the compressed air canister upright and use short bursts of air to blow away any dust or debris that has accumulated on the fan blades, heatsink, or surrounding areas. Be sure to keep the canister upright to prevent any moisture from coming out. Hold the fan blades gently with your finger to prevent them from spinning during the air blow.
  • Clean stubborn dust: If there are any stubborn dust particles or dirt that cannot be removed with compressed air, you can use a small brush or a cotton swab lightly moistened with isopropyl alcohol to clean the area. Be cautious and gentle to avoid damaging any components.
  • Reassemble the laptop: Once you are satisfied with the cleaning, carefully reattach the bottom panel and secure it with the screws you removed earlier.
  • Power on and test: Plug in your OMEN laptop, power it on, and listen for any unusual noises. Check if the fans are running smoothly and the laptop's temperature is within normal range. If everything appears to be working fine, you have successfully cleaned the fans.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
