I have recently purchased a HP 15-dk1035nr, then separately bought a USB-C dock to go with it. I have gone through everything I can think of (updating drivers, restart, check bios settings) and this thing is not recognizing as a dock, but instead as a disc by Windows. I am using the factory power supply that came with the laptop to power the dock., The USB items that are attached to the dock will get power, but do not register as separate USB items in my PC. Would appreciate any and all help here.

The specs of your machine is
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06880086
It requires 135 W Smart AC power adapter. Do you know the output wattage of your USB-C dock ? If too low, it won't registers.
Regards.
