Hi @MERT51

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

That sounds frustrating, especially when you're in the middle of gaming. Based on similar cases, here are some steps to troubleshoot your Victus by HP 16-r0000 laptop:

Troubleshooting Steps

Step 1: Check Power & GPU Settings

  • Ensure you're plugged into the original HP power adapter while gaming.
  • Open HP OMEN Gaming Hub and set Graphics Switcher to Discrete Mode (dGPU only).
  • In NVIDIA Control Panel, set Power Management Mode to Prefer Maximum Performance.

Step 2: Disable Fast Startup

  1. Open Control Panel > Power Options.
  2. Click Choose what the power buttons do.
  3. Select Change settings that are currently unavailable.
  4. Uncheck Turn on fast startup.
  5. Restart your laptop.

Step 3: Update BIOS & Drivers

  • Visit HP’s support page and download the latest BIOS, chipset, and GPU drivers.
  • Install them and restart your laptop.

Step 4: Check for Overheating Issues

  • Use HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner to check CPU/GPU temperatures.
  • If temperatures exceed 85°C, clean the cooling system and adjust fan settings.

Step 5: Test with an External Monitor

  • Connect your laptop to an external display via HDMI.
  • If the external monitor works fine, the issue may be with the internal panel or GPU drivers.

Let me know what results you get, and I can refine the troubleshooting further! Hopefully, we can get your laptop running smoothly again.

Hello! Thanks for the response. I tried everything you asked but result is the same. The temperature don't go over 85 but I cant open any game it crushes after 5 seconds. When I tried opening the game my computers screen goes black it is blinking and then it goes to sleeping mode. I cant open unless I restart the computer while it's blinking. I don't have a second monitor so I can't try the last thing. I have a 7 months guarantee. And I will give you a youtube link(not mine)

Btw after trying your solution it doesn't blinking it goes the sleeping mode again and again.

And when look at Internet r0 and s0 victus 16 and some of omen 16 series have the same problem. They think it is because of the hall sensor. If the service cancels the hall sensor it doesn't go sleeping mode when you close the screen and it is overheating and has lower performance.

The issue you're experiencing with your HP Victus 16 sounds persistent, especially with the system repeatedly entering sleep mode during gaming. Since you've already ruled out overheating and tried multiple troubleshooting steps, here are some additional steps:

1. Check HP Power Settings & BIOS Configuration

  • Open HP Support Assistant and verify any power-related settings or recommendations.
  • Restart and enter BIOS (typically by pressing Esc or F10 on startup).
  • Look for Power Management settings and ensure no sleep-related triggers are causing interruptions.
  • If available, reset BIOS to default settings.

2. Adjust Windows Power & Sleep Settings

  • Open Control Panel > Power Options.
  • Select Change Plan Settings for your active power plan.
  • Click Change advanced power settings.
  • Expand Sleep, Lid Close Action, and Power Button Action, ensuring none are set to force sleep unexpectedly.

3. Disable Modern Standby (If Applicable)

Some HP laptops use Modern Standby, which may interfere with performance during gaming. Disabling it can be done via Command Prompt:

  1. Open Command Prompt (Admin).
  2. Type: powercfg /change standby-timeout-ac 0
  3. Press Enter, restart, and test gaming performance.

4. Investigate Hall Sensor Behavior

  • If the Hall Sensor is causing unintended sleep mode triggers, testing with an external keyboard/mouse while keeping the lid slightly open might help.
  • Consider checking HP’s support documentation to see if any firmware updates address sensor behavior.

Let me know if any of these steps help, and I’m happy to guide you through more detailed troubleshooting!
