OMEN 17 an104np
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just start using OMEN 17 with GTX 1070, and notice that left fan is much faster than right fan in general.

Left Fan - 2198 rpm +-

Right Fan - 219 rpm+-

Both fans are NEVER in the same speed and that's really annoying, becouse the left one working  is working so fast and causing alot of vibration on keyboard. Is any way of fixing it?

ps. Yes, all driver are up to date...

Hoping someone can help me and thanks

RXS

This is complete normal and has been touched upon numerous times. Why HP choose to program the bios to do this I'm unsure but it doesn't appear to have an adverse effect.

Don't worry about it.

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I understand, left cooling fan works faster than the right cooling fan,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Is it noisy while operating the system?

When was the last time it worked fine?

Were there any hardware/software changes made?

Have you tried any troubleshooting steps?

How did you check the speed of the fan (Which software/application)?

Let's try these steps to fix this issue:

Set the fan speed or disable the fan:

  • Turn on the computer, and then immediately press F10 to enter BIOS.
  • Under the Power tab, select Thermal.
  • Use the left and right arrows to set the fans minimum speed, and then press F10 to accept the changes.
  • Or select disable then press F10 to accept the changes.

Update BIOS: Follow steps from the link to update BIOS: Click here

Let me know how this goes,

Cheers!

Hi

Is it noisy while operating the system? - After a while yes, because the CPU is working 100% all the time.

When was the last time it worked fine? -  I can't say ins't working fine, the Notebook was born in  "18/10/2018" so is relative young. 🙂 but the fans are always on, because the CPU is working always 100%.

Were there any hardware/software changes made? -  Negative.

Have you tried any troubleshooting steps? - Yes, and in the BIOS the fans minimum speed is set to disable by default

How did you check the speed of the fan (Which software/application)? - Speedfan free software

After a bit of research, and as I understand the left fan is CPU and right fan is GPU. And the CPU fan always run faster then the GPU... but... after a while I came to notice the fans are always like that because the CPU is working fullspeed (100%) all the time and because of that the NOTEBOOK is getting very high temperatures:

 - In idle (goes up 60 to 65 degress)

-  While playing games (like fallout 4) goes around 85degress to 90degress

- To get some kind of a fix we have to mess around with windows energy settings (like getting the cpu to work 99% so it wont turn on the turbo boost), but if we want to use the cpu 100% the temperatures go sky rocking.

Is any way to fix this?  I notice in the foruns, many people complaing and having the same issue.

Thanks in advance

RXS

Thank you for replying with this detailed response 😉

I appreciate your time and efforts,

Go into the task manager, (CTRL + ALT + DEL) and look at the CPU usage. That might give you a clue as to why the fan is running so much. There are many things that run in the background, like Services you don't need, that can be shut down to minimize CPU usage.

1.      Search for “Check for updates” in the Start menu.

2.      Under “Windows Update” choose “Advanced options.”

3.      Under “Choose how updates are installed” click “Choose how updates are delivered.”

Disable the toggle under “Updated from more than one place.

Let me know,

Good Luck!
