Hello everyone,
I have a HP Omen Transcend 16 RTX 4070 i9 and wish to know where could I get a genuine power supply from a trusted source. Also, what happens if I use the device with 200 Watt power supply? Can I damage it? Am I right that this device will need a 230 Watt power supply?
Thank you in advance!

Hi @Mimicri,
Thank you for reaching out regarding your HP OMEN Transcend 16-u0000 Gaming Laptop equipped with an Intel Core i9 processor and NVIDIA GeForce. For your specific configuration, HP recommends using a 230W Smart AC power adapter. This adapter is designed to meet the power requirements of systems equipped with RTX 4070 and RTX 4060 GPUs.
Utilizing a 200W adapter, which is intended for models with the RTX 4050 GPU, is not recommended for your configuration. Using an underpowered adapter can lead to
- Reduced Performance
- Battery Drain
- Potential Hardware Stress.
To ensure compatibility and safety, it's crucial to purchase a genuine HP 230W adapter. You can obtain one from the following trusted sources:

Hi Vikram,
Thank you for your kind reply.
I already ordered a 230W Smart adapter, 200W is definitely not quite right for this device. Sorry if my question was too primitive, I was confused because I purchased this wonderful device second hand and it was shipped with a 200W adapter and I got the "performance settings are overridden by system default..." error in Omen Hub and got a bit confused why. Now I know. Should have just listened to the error message. Also checked my specs and should be a 230 W adapter of course.
I'm already in love with this superb machine.
Thank you again for the clarification.

You're right to be cautious — the HP Omen Transcend 16 with an RTX 4070 and i9 CPU is a power-hungry machine. It typically comes with a 230W power adapter. Using a 200W supply might not damage it outright, but it can throttle performance under load or fail to charge the battery properly. Definitely better to stick with the recommended wattage.
