HP Pavilion Corei5 8th Gen gaming Laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, i bought my Gaming Laptop HP Pavilion Corei5 8th Gen last year, when ever i used to start gaming you could hear the fans start speeding up and the laptop never used to get hot or overheat, i have started gaming in Mid of december 2020 again and for some reason the laptop gets very Hot, you can hardly hear the 2 fans spinning as if they are on on normal startup, where they always used to speed up and get louder without issues, now this does not happen, i have a Cooling pad below, my HP Cool Sense is activated , took it back to Incredible connection and they refuse to assist as i dont have the slip anymore ,

Is there any solution to this overheating issue as i have tried everything , i have gone on community forms and no solution... this is very frustrating as i used to enjoy this laptop whilst gaming but now i feel like chucking it in the bin as i can play 20 to 30 min then its way to Hot, so if you feel like cooking a piece of meat ur more than welcome to put your meat on my laptop

@Bosbeer

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Did you make any changes to the settings of your PC prior to the issue?
  • Have you performed system factory recovery?
  • Have you tried updating the BIOS?

Keep me posted for further assistance.

Good day

Many thanks i have managed to get the fans up and running , now another issue, whilst on my laptop all of a sudden it will give a black screen, i use Win Key+Ctrl+Shif and B to force the screen back on which doesn't always help, i restart explorer.exe, no luck, i have made the changes to the power setting, still no luck, i have done the Bios defaults as well still no luck, when i plug in a second monitor it does exactly the same as the Laptop screen, i have disabled Nvidia card and only used Integrated Graphics, still no luck...after this i have restarted the Laptop again, opened up Call of Duty Warzone, had a game without any issues, after the game was finished i entered another match and BOOm yet again Black screen....My HP Pavilion Laptop is still under warranty, i have purchased it from Incredible connection in Vanderbijl park at the Vaal mall, i lost my slip and they refused to assist ....now i am stuck warranty only expires on the 5ht month of 2021 however fan made a noise took to Incredible connection no assistance present and refused, sent it in for repairs at a pc shop and it was a piece of plastic.....

One issue after the other, everyday i am facing issues with this Gaming laptop, All honesty im disgusted with HP with the gaming laptop and will never buy any Gaming Laptops from them ever again R18 000 to battle everyday Pathetic

Just to add to this i have done repair and recovery 5 times already since thursday , once i think its sorted then Bang here we go again, wasted alot of money and my Lenovo Work laptop performs much better than a Expensive HP Gaming laptop, worst of all is the lenovo was bought at almost R10 000 cheaper than my HP gaming laptop, to date no issues at all, not overheating, no graphics issues, no automatic restart, and its running onboard graphics can be gaming whole weekend not a single issue

Wish i could just rather get a refund and build a pc , wont buy these laptops again

@Bosbeer

Thank you for posting back.

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. I would suggest performing system factory reset will put the computer back to the original factory settings in this way all corrupted and outdated software will be removed.

While doing the recovery there is an option to back up your personal files. If you have not previously done one now is a good time.

Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows )You can also contact HP support for assistance. They can remotely access your system to help alleviate difficulties: www.hp.com/contacthp/

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
