Hi @Anshulrawal,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I understand you’re frustrated with your HP Pavilion Gaming 15 (ec0101ax) laptop after replacing major components and now facing freezing issues possibly related to BIOS or RAM. Let’s go through a few steps to help diagnose what could be causing this.
a. Check System Health & Temperature
Download and run a tool like HWMonitor or HWiNFO to check CPU, GPU, and motherboard temperatures during idle and under load.
If temperatures exceed ~90 °C for the CPU or GPU, it could cause freezes or instability.
Also, check for thermal throttling or CPU clock locked at low frequency — these can be caused by BIOS or power delivery issues.
HP Community+1
b. Run Memory & Storage Diagnostics
Press Windows + R, type mdsched.exe, and run the Windows Memory Diagnostic.
Also, in BIOS or UEFI, run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI (press Esc → F2) to test the memory modules and SSD.
HP Community
If one of the RAM sticks fails the test, reseat or replace it and test again.
Make sure the RAM you’re using is compatible (speed and voltage) — mismatched modules can cause instability.
c. Update Drivers and BIOS (Carefully)
Visit the official support page for your laptop model: the “Software & Drivers” section. HP Support
Install all latest chipset, graphics, and storage drivers first.
For BIOS: note that rollback may not be supported. Several community posts for this model state that once BIOS version F.20 is installed, older versions may not be downloadable or installable. HP Community+1
If you suspect the current BIOS version is problematic, ensure your system is running on AC power, backup all data, and check whether HP has released a BIOS update addressing your issue.
d. Reset BIOS to Defaults and Clear CMOS
Shut down the laptop, unplug the AC adapter, and if possible disconnect the internal battery.
Hold down the power button for ~15 seconds to discharge residual power.
Reconnect power and press the F10 key at startup to enter BIOS.
Select Restore Defaults, save changes, and exit.
This can clear corrupted settings which may cause random freezes.
I hope this helps.

HI @Anshulrawal,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I understand you’re using the Pavilion Gaming 15 ec0101ax and facing issues with the RAM slot, GPU crashes, and BIOS rollback while you're currently on version F.20. Let’s go through a few checks to understand what could be causing this.
Verify System Temperatures & Hardware Stability
• Use HWInfo or HP Hardware Diagnostics to confirm CPU/GPU temps and voltage behaviour.
• Even if temps look normal, sudden freezes or GPU crashes can still be related to unstable power delivery or BIOS configuration.
Test Both Memory Slots Individually
• Insert one RAM stick at a time in Slot 1 → boot the system.
• Then move the same stick to Slot 2 → boot again.
• Repeat using the second RAM stick.
This helps confirm if the issue is with the module or the slot itself.
Run HP UEFI Diagnostics for Memory & Board
• Restart → tap Esc → press F2 for HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
• Run the “Memory Test” and the “System Board Test.”
If the board test flags an error for memory communication, it may indicate a failing RAM channel on the motherboard.
Reset BIOS Settings Completely
• Restart → press F10 → load BIOS defaults → save & exit.
• Shut down the laptop → disconnect the charger → hold the power button for 15 seconds.
This clears any corrupted BIOS configuration that may affect RAM detection or GPU stability.
About BIOS F.20 Availability and Rollback
• BIOS F.20 for this model was briefly made available and later removed from the support page.
• Once F.20 is installed, rollback to F.19 is usually blocked at firmware level for this series.
• Modifying or force-flashing an older BIOS is not supported, as it can permanently damage the system board.
I hope this helps.
