Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fb0000 (598V2AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I have Victus 15.6 with Ryzen and RX 6500M.  It stopped charging suddenly one day, and I didn't realize it till the computer had died, and won't take a charge now. Is the power jack failing a common occurrence with these laptops?   Is there something else I'm missing, confirmed my 200w ac adapter is good, but still the computer won't charge.

Hi @Dreadnaught0420,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds frustrating to deal with your HP Victus 15.6 not charging or powering up. Here are some steps and checks you can perform to troubleshoot the issue:

Check the Power Source: Confirm the outlet you're using is functioning by plugging in another device. Sometimes the simplest issue could be the source of the problem.

Inspect the Power Cord and Adapter: Since you've confirmed that your 200W AC adapter is functioning, ensure that there are no frays, kinks, or breaks in the cable. Also, check both ends of the power cable for any damage or dirt.

Examine the Power Jack: The power jack on your laptop might indeed be the issue. Gently wiggle the power adapter plug where it connects to the laptop. If it feels loose or you see any damage, this could be where the problem lies. If you are comfortable doing so, you might want to open up the laptop to see if the power jack is loose or broken from the motherboard.

Battery Check: If possible, remove the battery (if it's not integrated) and try to power on the laptop with just the AC adapter plugged in. This can help determine if the battery is causing the issue.

Hard Reset: Perform a hard reset by disconnecting the battery and AC adapter, then holding down the power button for about 15 seconds. Reconnect everything and try powering on again.

LED Indicators: Since there are no LEDs lighting up when you attempt to charge or turn on the laptop, it indicates there might be a failure in the power delivery through the charging circuit. This could be due to a faulty motherboard or other internal components.

Use a Different Charger: Even though you confirmed the AC adapter works, using a different charger that is compatible with your laptop can be a quick way to rule out any issue with your current charger.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
