Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Overheating on HP Desktop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If you're experiencing overheating issues with your HP computer, there are several steps you can take to help alleviate the problem:

Improve Ventilation and Clean Vents

  1. Ensure proper ventilation around your computer.
  2. Clean the air vents to remove dust and debris, which can obstruct airflow. Use a vacuum to clean the exterior vents carefully.

Check and Clean Fans

  1. Inspect the fans inside your computer to ensure they are working correctly. Loud noises or non-working fans might need addressing.
  2. Use canned air to clean any dust accumulation on the fans and components inside the computer.

Replace Thermal Paste

  1. Replace the thermal paste on the processor. Over time, thermal paste can dry out, impacting heat conductivity. Apply a pea-sized amount centered on the processor, and avoid over-tightening screws.

Manage Software and Applications

  1. Reduce the number of applications running simultaneously to decrease workload and heat production.
  2. Close unnecessary applications when they're not in use.
  3. Update your BIOS and drivers via HP Support Assistant to ensure your system is operating optimally.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
