OMEN by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-wd000 (7B9S0AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

My HP omen 16-wd0990tx with a 4050 and i5-13450H is having trouble loading blender, the 3d modelling app. I have contacted blender support and apparently thi is an issue that is occuring on multiple HP omen computers. .Basically the app renders a blank screen while it is running on the dGPU. It works on iGPU but there is a blank screen otherwise. This is disappointing because the dGPU was purchased for this very reason. The app works fine on every other computer and this is an HP specific problem. Please assist on steps to solve. Already have tried driver reinstalls, both studio and game ready drivers. Thanks

Hi @Nived-Jayadev,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

It seems like the issue with Blender rendering a blank screen on the dGPU is affecting multiple HP Omen laptops. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue:

Update Graphics Drivers:

  • Ensure that both the iGPU (integrated) and dGPU (discrete) drivers are up to date.
  • You can download the latest drivers from the official HP Support page or the respective GPU manufacturer's website (NVIDIA/AMD).

Switch Blender to Use the dGPU:

  • Open the NVIDIA Control Panel or AMD Radeon Settings.
  • Go to “Manage 3D settings” and set Blender to use the high-performance NVIDIA/AMD processor instead of the integrated graphics.

Update Blender:

  • Make sure you are using the latest version of Blender, as updates may include fixes for compatibility issues.
  • Download the latest version from the official Blender website.

Disable or Adjust Optimus Settings (For NVIDIA GPUs):

  • NVIDIA Optimus technology automatically switches between the iGPU and dGPU. Sometimes, manually forcing the dGPU can resolve issues.
  • Open the NVIDIA Control Panel, go to "3D Settings" > "Manage 3D Settings" > "Global Settings" tab, and set the preferred graphics processor to "High-performance NVIDIA processor."

Check for BIOS/UEFI Updates:

  • Sometimes, system-level updates can resolve compatibility issues. Check the HP Support page for any BIOS/UEFI updates for your laptop model.

Reinstall Blender:

  • Completely uninstall Blender, including any user preferences and configurations, and then reinstall the latest version.

Run Blender in Compatibility Mode:

  • Right-click on the Blender executable, go to "Properties," then the "Compatibility" tab, and try running it in compatibility mode for a different version of Windows.

Check Blender Configuration:

  • Sometimes, specific Blender settings can cause issues. Reset Blender settings to default and see if the issue persists.

If these steps don't resolve the issue, it's possible that a specific compatibility problem exists between Blender and the HP Omen hardware. In such cases, keeping an eye on updates from both Blender and HP.

For further assistance, contact phone support.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Blender is not opening on my laptop. HP Omen 16. I tried updating the drivers, the software, reset my laptop, unistalled and reinstalled the software, set Nvidia to open the software on high-performance. I even tried to open it in compatibility mode with windows 8
It is still not opening. Shows me a grey screen.
