Is there a list of compatible RAM upgrades for my HP Notebook 15-dy1087nr

I'm looking to have the capability to play games that require more RAM, as well as other upgrades, without spending an exuberant amount by way of purchasing an actual gaming pc/laptop

Hi:

You will not get a great gaming experience out of the onboard Intel graphics regardless of what you do.

Your notebook already has a NVMe SSD which is the fastest type of drive available nowadays.

Your notebook has the best processor (i7) offered in the model series.

Your only option would be to add another 8 GB of memory which should be sufficient or max out the memory with 2 x 16 GB.

The Crucial memory report indicates you can install 32 GB of memory in your notebook.

I don't know how much money you want to spend but if you want to max out the memory to 32 GB you could do it for around $60.

The service manual on your notebook's support page indicates that the max memory is only 2 x 8 GB but that is for the older model series.

You can run this command to confirm how much memory your notebook can support.

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once the command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

The report is not 100% guaranteed to be accurate but it is better to at least have a second source besides the Crucial memory report.

And the service manual is not always right either.
